4th LTTA in Spain at Salesianos Juan XXIII in Alcoi (Spain)

The fourth meeting took place in Salesianos Juan XXIII in Alcoi (Spain). After the welcoming and the necessary group photo, the city and the hosting School, facilities tour included, were introduced to visiting students and teachers, showing them some of our customs and history.
Random team-building activities were used to socialize and create the five international groups, 4 students from different countries per team, and practice English speaking.
In order to get to know the reality of the hosting School and its natural, cultural and industrial environment, the visit included, a Town hall reception by the Education and Culture and University councilmen, visit of the other Salesian school in Alcoi, know the war shelter and the importance of the business fabric of Alcoi. For that matter, students and teachers also had the opportunity of visiting the Arcade Museum where the could check out and enjoy the video games evolution, the Technological Institute of Toy in the neighboring town of Ibi, where new augmented reality technology and 3D printing technologies are applied, and visit El Serpis Olives factory, a great example of the productive process from beginning to end. A one-day visit of Valencia’s Fallas was included in the agenda as a part of the regional cultural interest.
Besides, students were able to attend an Arduino workshop, where the Arduino Blocks platform creator, a teacher from the hosting School, with Secondary education students introduced the robotics device to them and performed practical curricular lessons.
A special sport activity was achieved by teachers and students, playing Boccia with a group of disbled students from Gormaget School, Salesianos Juan XXIII partner in another social and inclusion project, as a way of providing more social visibility, create links and of course have fun with a not so-common sport all together. The session concluded with a farewell dinner in the School facilities.
International teams, apart from the training sessions, solved the Presentation and animated gif tasks proposed for the “competition”, reporting them new ICT skills and terminology (new words for the e-book glossary were added), better digital competences and mainly communication and social skills.
Teachers’ meeting contributed to a new lesson plan for teaching animated Gif with free-online software Pixilart created by the Spanish teaching team with instructions to be used by other teachers and students in ICT and self-study lessons. Use of ICT lessons and tools as well as new project documentation were discussed and created.
