5th LTTA at HAK Weiz, Austria

The fifth meeting took place at BHAK Weiz. It was a four-day stay including student- and teacher activities. For arrivals and departures, all partners had two days for traveling activities. Two teachers took part from each school together with four students each.
During the stay, students visited game-design lessons and a training session for the international competition. During the stay, teachers also had time to discuss the teaching of ICT-subjects – especially software- and hardware design for 3D printing. Even the competition was about 3D design and based on a tool called Tinkercad – a free web app for 3D design, electronics and coding.
Teachers also participated in the implementation and evaluation of the competition, had to evaluate the tests, and had to assign points to the participating student groups.
Between lessons and workshops, we visited a transformer producing company and we got a guided tour through the factory halls.
The workshop – which was conducted by the hosting partner – was about game-design and about the fundamental developing process of computer games. The primary focus was on serious games and their basic characteristics. As a first step, analog board games were designed by defining game laws, game sense and game mechanics. In addition, we visited a pumpkin seed oil producing company and we had the chance to taste pumpkin seed oil on vanilla ice cream. Strange but tasty. An integral part of the meeting was a trip through the region of South Styria to visit a medieval castle, a bird of prey demonstration and a chocolate factory.
An essential element of our meeting was the creation of all meeting documentations (photo gallery, videos, attendance- and result lists), and the evaluation of the competition. 🙂
